Investment Management

Assessment of Investment Horizon and Incorporation of Risk Profile

We assess your emotional and financial risk profiles, and your investment horizon and then factor these critical elements into the design of your portfolio.

In our opinion, investment management is more complex than it has ever been before. With the twists and turns of the market as well as a multitude of options for asset allocations and diversification strategies, we work to cut through all the complexities for you.

Analyze Existing Investments

We review your existing positions to help determine if they are still appropriate choices within your financial plan and risk profile. We will review your portfolio to identify potential opportunities to save you money. Where appropriate, we may reposition from higher-cost holdings to lower-cost alternatives while being mindful of selective opportunities for tax-loss harvesting.

Broad and Meaningful Diversification

Our process divides the investment universe across asset classes, sectors, geographies, and styles while taking into account your personal investing values. In our view this results in meaningful diversification and risk management.

Determine Asset Allocation Within Model Portfolios

We design a customized target allocation with your expected return and risk profile. We principally use mutual funds and exchange traded funds. We look for cost effective, tax efficient, diversified, and professionally managed funds. This helps us gain exposure, as appropriate, to most financial assets.

Ongoing Portfolio Management

We continually assess your portfolio, investigate new investment opportunities, and evaluate if markets have changed in fundamental ways. We believe well-diversified portfolios compensate clients for the risk they take over full market cycles. Evaluating short-term performance is at best unproductive and at worst, can lead to poor investment decisions. We want to ensure all assets are meeting return, income, and risk objectives.
